This Grover Beach, CA backyard was sloped and awkwardly laid-out with lots of wasted space, so we helped our clients transform it into a more usable and inviting outdoor living area with a contemporary tropical feel to match the aesthetic set by the existing mature plants. Colored concrete retaining walls now create an upper and lower patio, as well as multiple planter areas to soften up the hardscape with bold, lush-looking foliage. The existing concrete patio was extended and refinished to function as an outdoor dining area, and a cantilevered bench was built out of composite decking to create an additional gathering space on the upper level. The lower paver patio features a custom colored concrete gas fire pit with a stone cap, and an adjacent water feature with bubblers adds a fire and water dynamic to the main entertainment space. New plants were added and existing Mexican pebble was recycled on-site for the mulch material in planter beds. A low-voltage lighting system makes the backyard perfect for evening entertainment. The front yard was also updated with a paver driveway add-on an refreshed planting beds.
