Before + After: SLO Patio Transformation

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a landscape designer is following along with the construction process as our team brings a design to life, from a dream on paper to the real world. Once the finishing touches are complete and the plants have had some time to grow, there’s nothing quite like revisiting the site and spending time in a client’s finished outdoor space, reflecting on where it all started. Often, the changes are BIG.

Here are some before and after views of one of our recent projects, SLO Patio Transformation. These images help tell the story of an inviting outdoor entertainment space that not too long ago was an underutilized, unattractive backyard with a funky layout, dominated by a massive palm tree. Follow along with the renovation below!

What was an abandoned lawn area is now a large Belgard paver patio with three main designated areas: outdoor dining, outdoor kitchen and bar, and outdoor lounge.

A flagstone-look concrete patio was removed, making space for a new hot tub in a more secluded section of the Belgard paver patio, next to the outdoor lounge area.

The previous hot tub location is now home to an outdoor kitchen and bar with horizontal Ipe siding, stainless steel appliances and leathered granite countertops.

This cozy corner now hosts an outdoor lounge area with outdoor TV, fan, fireplace, heaters and built-in bench seating, all under a custom fabricated patio cover.

With the palm tree removed, more light enters the yard. Views of the adjacent riparian corridor remain intact, maintaining the beautiful natural backdrop for the updated space.
