Our Design Process:
Phase 1 - Site Consultation + Design Proposal
After the initial point of contact, a free site consultation will be scheduled for a Landwell team member to assess the project site and discuss the ideas, priorities and scope of work with the potential client.
Following the site consultation, a design proposal will be created and presented to the potential client, which outlines the scope of work, design process, and payment schedule.
Once the proposal is signed and the deposit payment is received, the design team will get started.
Phase 2 - Pre-Design
A design team member will revisit the project site to collect reference photos and measurements before getting started. If the client can provide any house/site plans for the design team’s use, we will request access to them prior to this visit.
A 2D base plan of the existing site will be drafted in CAD.
The client will be sent a design questionnaire to fill out and return before the design work begins.
Phase 3 - Design Development
The design team will develop and present a conceptual landscape design, based on the ideas discussed during the initial design consultation, and with consideration of site conditions and the client needs/preferences indicated by the client on the design questionnaire. The conceptual landscape design is intended to convey a proposed layout for the different elements desired in the landscape, including placement and orientation of hardscape elements, planting areas, and all other landscape features.
After reviewing the conceptual landscape design, the design team will use client-provided feedback to revise the design concept as necessary, and further develop the landscape design.
Once the conceptual landscape design is accepted by the client, a preliminary cost estimate will be provided in order to check on budget and make any necessary adjustments to the layout or scope of work.
After making any adjustments to the design layout or scope of work, the design team will present the client with a preliminary plant and materials palette for the client to provide feedback on.
As the final design details are determined, a landscape master plan set will be developed and presented to the client. The landscape master plan set will consist of a landscape master plan (including the layout of landscape features, material specifications, and construction notes) and a planting plan (including plant call-outs, a plant schedule planting and irrigation notes).
Phase 4 - Post-Design
Once the client has approved the landscape master plan set, the design process is complete.
If the client is interested in a construction estimate for implementation of the project, the construction team will revisit the preliminary estimate and update it to reflect the landscape master plan set.
